Why is the UK such a failure at keeping us healthy

In a country supposedly the 5th or 6th richest in the world, this level of Dickensian poverty is an obscenity. With long term sickness from long covid still around 1 million, as a result of Boris and Tory incompetence and indifference, with increased physical and mental disability being policed by the private outsourcing brutal Capita and an ongoing NHS waiting list of over 7 million we are truly a sick and inhumane society.

When poverty, even absolute poverty, affects millions, including children, while rents increase as private rental housing conditions worsen what kind of society are we living in?

One that is run by and for the richest 1%, lanlirds, privatised rip off companies and global corporations.

We need a new govt and new approach which takes on the failed neo liberal brutalism, taxes wealth and corporations and restores wages, affordable housing and childcare and decent public services under public ownership. Anything else is an acceptance that today's hard right govt and media agenda cannot be challenged and the majority facing hardship or poverty had better just suck it up.

Over to you Labour, but I'm not holding my breath
